Roti /Chappathi

Roti /Chappathi , a north Indian flat bread is very delicious and healthy main course in Indian cuisine..here is how we make a simple roti effortlessly.

Level: Easy

Preparation time : 15 mins

Yield : 2 People

Ingredients :


1 cup Whole wheat flour and a little more to roll the roti
3/4 cup luke warm water ( or as needed)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp olive oil
a pinch of sugar
Butter or Clarified bitter to smear on top of Roti..

In a bowl take the Whole wheat flour, add the salt,sugar and olive oil and mix.Mix in the Water a little by little at a time and make a smooth round dough. Cover it up for 10 mins for the dough to relax. Knead the dough for 1 or 2 mins after the dough has relaxed,make golf ball size dough.Flour the rolling board and take 1 ball at a time and roll it as we would roll a cookie dough. Meanwhile heat the tawa/ non stick pan in med heat. Once the pan is heated place the rolled roti 1 at a time ,cook on both sides for 40 secs until you see little brown spots. Take out of the pan and smear a little butter/clarified butter and serve hot with your preferred side..Enjoy
